Press release June 2009
Free pictogram-planning tool AutiPlan matures!
EMMELOORD - After two years of development and five months of testing, the tool AutiPlan was officially launched on 1 July 2009. AutiPlan is used by adults and children, to provide them with a clear and detailed planner that offers structure and overview. A planner can be divided up into (five minute or larger) time blocks, and can feature pictograms, digital/analog clocks, and check-boxes. Over 3400 people have taken part in the test phase and their suggestions have helped us improve our product in many ways. We have received hundreds of enthusiastic comments, and a substantial amount of these people are already using AutiPlan on a regular daily basis.
Development
AutiPlan grew out of a daily routine the developers had to go through, writing up a daily schedule on a whiteboard for their eight year-old son, who has Autism. Not only was this a time consuming activity, it was, also, very demanding having to organise all the small details into a standard day, each time anew. When much searching on the internet did not result in the discovery of an adequate and simple tool for planning with pictograms, the idea to develop such a program themselves was born. In the end, with the help of a close friend and thousands of pictograms from sclera.be AutiPlan became a reality.Quick and easy
A lot of time is saved by the use of templates. A template is a standard daily schedule which can be easily copied, with a few mouse clicks, to any given date on the calender. This gives a new planner, which, then, can be tweaked accordingly. By using different templates, you can simply compile and print a planner in a matter of seconds! AutiPlan has prioritised user-friendliness, and made the program very simple to use. A screencast and a manual on the website explains how to use the program in a few easy steps.
Free for home-use
To make this product available to everybody, it was important to the developers to offer the tool, in a basic version, for free. For those who want to make use of the extended options of the full version, a license for personal use can be purchased at a reduced rate. These options include integrating personal pictograms/photos, an interactive PlanViewer, and personalised layouts for print-outs).
Schools/companies/institutions
Schools, companies and institutions will have to buy a license for AutiPlan, at a cost which is effectively evened out by the amount of labour it saves staff. The design has taken various types of use for different clients into consideration. Any general template drawn up by the professional can be easily used for several clients; it is also possible to head a printed planner with the company logo.
There are several types of licenses available. They can all be ordered from the website and can be implemented immediately after placing an order.
You can try out AutiPlan on the
website: http://www.autiplan.com
Everybody
who registers (including companies) can try out the full version of
AutiPlan for two weeks, free of charge. After this period, home-users
will be automatically subscribed to the basic version.
Autiplan bij SBS6
AutiPlan is bij het SBS6 programma Hart van Nederland geweest. Direct na de uitzending was de website even niet beschikbaar door de overweldigende belangstelling.

Article
I am the father of an 8-year old child with Asperger's syndrome. Together with a friend, I have developed software to create and print daily schedules quickly and easily from the Internet.
The most important goal of AutiPlan is to help families in similar situations to ours, by letting you create planners much more efficiently. In order to make this available for everyone, we offer the most important functions to private users for free.
It is possible to start with an empty day and start planning right away but in order to create a planner very quickly, we recommend using templates. A template facilitates the creation of multiple planners (for one or more clients). It makes for easy planning in a few simple steps, allowing for quick adaptations where required. AutiPlan contains thousands of pictograms.
Then, one can use the 'Download plan as PDF...' function to create and print the planning in several formats.
We are taking this a step further with the PlanViewer. The PlanViewer, which is part of the full version of AutiPlan, shows the planning interactively in a web browser. There is also a version for the small displays of smart-phones. This feature is still undergoing development and can be used for free until the test period is over.
More information, a screencast demonstration and the application itself are available on our website: http://www.autiplan.com
With AutiPlan, you don't have to install anything on your computer. Just create an account and give it a go.
Remember, the basic version will at all times be FREE for private use!
